I ordered a rare piece of gear from Soundgas. Despite being overseas, I received the item within a few days, packaged expertly. There was a technical issue with the item, but Soundgas were excellent about acknowledging the problem and keeping support and communication open and clear. After an unsuccessful repair attempt from a local shop, I was fairly compensated for the issue. Considering the positive way everything was handled, I have absolutely no reservation about doing business with Soundgas in the future. Their customer service is top notch, they were excellent to correspond with, and they had my back when it counted.

I have been following Soundgas for several years, largely on social media. It wasn’t until recently that I decided to purchase something from them, something they’re extremely well known for: the notorious Roland Space Echo RE-201. I’ve never owned one, but have long used a plugin version from UA, but still lusted for a hardware unit of my own. So, a few weeks ago I purchased a unit from Soundgas and patiently waited for its arrival. Yesterday I received it, and I have to say, I’m truly blown away. Unboxing the Space Echo was exciting, and once I removed the bubble wrap and placed it on the table I was able to appreciate the beauty IRL. Upon further inspection I began to notice the incredibly detailed work that went into its restoration. The unit was exceptionally clean — it genuinely looks brand new. No detail was overlooked. It's spotless, shiny and bright. It’s surely decades old, but you’d never know it. Then I noticed the other details - especially the custom glass cover over the tape, underneath the bonnet. A very classy touch, with the Soundgas logo engraved on it. There is a custom Soundgas instructional guide on the inside of the cover as well (replacing Roland’s own version, likely because it had faded over time or otherwise was no longer legible). Also a nice touch! They didn’t have to do all of this, but they did. It's just how they roll. Then there’s the sound, and that’s where it really shines. I played with the Space Echo for a solid 2 hours, with a Moog Subharmonicon, and it felt like only 30 minutes. I was hypnotized and mesmerized by how the Space Echo turned the Moog's polyrhythms into even more polyrhythms, added harmonics and color and character in surprising ways, and frankly, in ways I don't think I could achieve with software. This is expected of course, but it’s a whole different game using your hands to adjust the knobs rather than a mouse with an emulator. This, ultimately, is why I wanted my own Space Echo. It’s only been 24 hours but now I get it — now I understand Soundgas's renown for their work with Space Echos. Furthermore, the team there was excellent at keeping me up to date on the progress of my order, the special work going into it (during the peak of summer holiday season too), and it really showed upon arrival. I cannot say enough about how impressed I am, total professionals. The certificate of authenticity that came with my unit only confirms their professionalism and care. Yes, sure, you can find a Space Echo on eBay, but you won’t find one like this — that’s certain. I am so pleased with my decision to buy from Soundgas, and suggest you stop your search now and just send them a message. You will undoubtedly find yourself writing an ecstatic review about yours in short time. Thank you to the SG crew! I will surely be giving them more of my business now that I have experienced first hand what all the fuss is about.

Grabbed a Roland RE-201 (early edition killer pre-amp) and Roland DC-50. Absolutely STUNNING. These guys truly live up to the hype. They are meticulous in caring for the gear. Also, I have a few guitar pedal and plug-in emulations of tape-echo sounds and after plugging in the real unit I can't tell you how insane the difference is. It is incredible. Especially that tone from the early pre-amp! I am totally amazed. I am in heaven :) They made it safely to Nashville from the UK and were packed really really well! Thank you so much!!
