Fieldtone The Weaver Audio Sampler PREORDER
The Weaver is a brilliant device from Fieldtone Instruments - who are behind the wonderful Box Of Uncertainty. Now available in new, exclusive Soundgas Edition colourway.
It is a wild handheld sampler that creates all kinds of crazy and mostly unpredictable rhythms, drones and textures. I've been using protoypes for many months now and absolutely love it. It's utterly addictive and beguiling (unless you're the sort of person who needs absolute control over everything. This is the opposite of that. serendipity in a small box. Happy accidents. Weirdness, glitches and lots of wonk.
Sounds can be captured by either the built in microphone or the 3.5mm line input (mono), the latter disables the microphone when plugged in.
The Weaver user manual is here!
Customers often ask us just what is the difference between the Weaver and the Box of Uncertainty? Here's some words from Hugh at Fieldtone: ''They are both audio samplers but work in quite different ways: The Box Of Uncertainty is essentially a granular sampler that gives a lot of precise control of the various parameters to shape the output.
The Weaver is a single knob sampler that randomises the output - the only control the user has is whether it outputs in Texture or Rhythm mode and to change the current loop by randomising it again. Texture mode shares some characteristics of the Box of Uncertainty but Rhythm mode is entirely different in how it sounds.
Both devices are idiosyncratic and generate unexpected outputs but the Weaver is much more about surrendering control and letting chance take over.''
