Roland RE-101 Space Echo

Early preamps and really superb head condition mean this is a killer-sounding Space Echo. Excellent cosmetic condition as well. This is an RE-101 that definitely stands out as an exceptional machine.

CONDITION: In excellent cosmetic condition, especially given that is a very early machine). It has some minor scratches across the face. The tolex is clean with some scuffing across the top. Internal surfaces are very clean having almost no oxidation showing. See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Every now and again you shake the tree and something really special drops out. What you are hearing here is the wet only output of a spectacular sounding RE-101. A combination of rare early preamps and very low use mean this machine has a clarity and drive which is just magical. Stripped back KR-55 beats used to allow the echoes to shine. And don’t forget – this is all coming through the preamps and the tape – no dry signal. (A 101 is simply a 201 with no EQ or reverb. Same internals. Same head spacings.) VOLTAGE INFO

• 120v machine (Japanese machine that has had an original Roland 120v transformer fitted).
• A step-down transformer is required in the UK/EU.
• We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.

OTHER USEFUL INFO:

REPLACEMENT TAPES: We could (and we will) write a lot about our journeys in tape and the misinformation and poor quality tapes that seem to fill the internet. But for now you can buy tried and tested replacement Roland tape loops from us (they are supplied by Echofix). These are the only tapes We may also have a very limited supply of sealed original NOS RT1-L tapes – see our store or get in touch.

There are currently no operational issues with this machine, but please be aware that these units require looking after and that regular use and maintenance are key to keeping this in good working order.

Some crackle is always possible from pots/switches when not used for a while – this can be cleared with use.
