Product Description
One of two MicMix Dynaflangers we have for sale currently.
These rare effects have a unique sound and were a key part of Frank Zappa's sound. As Dweezil Zappa said in an interview in Guitar Player:
This one is the earlier of the two with a low serial and that classic MicMix build where it looks a lot like a prototype inside ("classic" for us at least, as we've wrestled with more than one somewhat primitive, no schematic MicMix product before...). Sonically it seems to be slightly more raw than the other unit which we suspect is due to some component values having been changed in the full "production" version.
These rare effects have a unique sound and were a key part of Frank Zappa's sound. As Dweezil Zappa said in an interview in Guitar Player:
"The Dynaflanger tone is my all-time favorite. It’s essentially a time-modulated sound that reacts to the envelope threshold being manipulated by the player. It creates an amazingly realistic double without the predictability of an LFO. It’s like a living thing that reacts to what you’re doing. It’s so cool! That tone has been one of the hardest to replicate, but it has also inspired me to play things I would never play otherwise. It’s a big part of Shut Up ’n Play Yer Guitar as well as my Live in the Moment records."
