Product Description
Trio Surround Sonic Quadrixer Model KN-6644 for sale.
This rare vintage HiFi unit from Kenwood which, in our opinion, also has possibilities as a studio effect. This is why we originally picked it up, but we've just never had time to really explore it (and we have way too many "possibly interesting" boxes on the shelves so some stuff needs to go!). Designed to allow a stereo input to be turned into a Quad output - back in the 1970s this was cutting-edge, and they added a reverb so you could really go spacious. It sounds very cool, and looks amazing with the blue meters.
Tested and fully working. Has had some service work in the past. Controls may need some cleaning but it seems fine on a quick test.
If you a vintage HiFi fan then you probably know about these or can find the info you want online. You'll see from the rear shots that there's A LOT of different ins and outs. Here are some bits and pieces from the internet:
It can work both in stereo and in quad mode. Stereo recordings can be listened to in pseudo-quad mode. When playing good vinyl with rich polyphony (chorus or a large number of different voices and instruments), very interesting sound effects occur, and stereo vinyl sounds almost like a quad recording.
2 quad systems (surround) - Hall 1, Hall 2. Mixing front and rear speakers.
“B CHANNEL” ITEM: Interesting and fun pieces we’ve picked up, plus some ex-demo and B-stock items. We keep prices as low as possible on things like this by doing only minimal servicing, plus of course the usual safety checks where appropriate. There is no warranty on these items, however of course it will arrive as described and your usual rights are unaffected. If you require the "full" Soundgas service on this item it may be possible - get in touch.
