Market Electronics Echoplex EM-1 Groupmaster for sale serviced and guaranteed. This is the ultra-rare multi-input mixer version of the classic US, solid-state tape echo with Sound On Sound. Full mechanical and electrical service completed, heads cleaned, Fulltone cartridge rewound with fresh tape. Great characterful sound, overdrives well.
In excellent working order for a 40+ year-old echo unit. Case/face scruffy, but functional. Case lid missing.
Sounds great if you overdrive the inputs for extra colour...
Has serious presence in the studio.
Guitarists love the Echoplex - the EP2 and EP3 were famously used by Jimmy Page on stage and in the studio with Led Zeppelin and Page & Plant, as well as by Eddie Van Halen amongst many others.
It features the noodletastic Sound On Sound facility which allows you to play along with a very long loop of yourself...
This is not a perfect-sounding echo - but that's not why you buy an Echoplex. It's the gnarly, tape-saturated wrongness that makes this rusty monster so desirable. It shouldn't be your only echo, but it may well be your most enjoyable. This is a machine for someone who doesn't want perfect, who enjoys the foibles and idiosyncrasies of a less than perfect design. Celebrate the imperfections and sonic irregularities created by this grand old technology.
We also have a valve EP2 and an EP-3 for sale - see our other listings or email for details.
Just back from spending some quality time with our experienced tape echo tech and now the sound of this machine is as good as it looks. Cartridge has been rewound with fresh tape cart so it's good to go

- We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.
Please note that when run in countries with mains supply at 50Hz (like the UK/EU) as opposed to the 60Hz in North America, there can be some hum from the motor – this is a physical hum rather than audio and does not affect the operation of the machine.

“I’ve bought a number of items from Soundgas recently, and have been really impressed with their service. It takes the stress out of buying vintage gear to know it’s been properly (and faithfully) serviced or restored. Their after-sales service has also been exemplary. Highly recommended.”

“Imagine the perfect eBay.... with everything you never knew you wanted… and you can rest assured that your vintage and rare wobbly sound device will turn up on time and in one piece and possibly in even better condition that when it left the workshop. Soundgas - literally amazing."
