This is a broker sale on behalf of the owner - he and we would prefer to keep this complete at this stage so this listing is for the whole package. As it's a complete UK-registered motor vehicle, we'll not be shipping it - collection in person will be required.

This vehicle, known as a “Transit 88”, is based on a Transit 130 chassis with high roof, long wheelbase and twin rear wheels. It is one of a group of around 20 similar vehicles custom adapted / built for the BBC during 1988 / 89 by Elliot Brothers and purchased by the current owner from a BBC Local Radio station in 2003. There is extensive paperwork relating to the vehicle including every MOT certificate, BBC vehicle handbook and manuals for most of the technical equipment including an extensive manual for the Chilton QM3 mixing desk.

The centrepiece of this vehicle is clearly the Chilton QM3 desk.
It is 24 > 8 > 2 with very comprehensive facilities – each channel has:
Switchable pre / post monitoring.
Adjustable and LF and HF filters.
Separate mic & line gain controls – switchable between with a switchable pad on the mic inputs.
3 band EQ but with 4 four switchable centre frequencies for Mid and 2 for LF – with in/out switching.
4 aux sends, switchable on each channel – (1) All Pre; (2) A1 & A2 post, A3 & A4 pre; (3)all post.
4 aux returns, presented as two pairs but, with each fader fully pan-able and route- able. This can present as four more independent line input channels.
Switchable insert switch on each channel allowing outboard gear to be plugged but switched in and out.
+6dB ‘overload’ LED.
Channel routings are in pairs – 4 groups (1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8) but with the high quality pan controls this can be used to create 8 mono groups.
There is also an Independent button to route the channel direct to main output. Pan controls are switchable in and out whilst maintaining correct gain settings. Mute button – with LED on each channel + Auto mute button to which any channel may be switched to allow a group of channels to be muted at once in any combination.
The final button in this group is the PFL button which illuminates a green LED and routes the selected channel or channels to the main monitor output.
Channels and groups may be mechanically ganged together with novel bars through fader knobs.
Each of the eight group faders has an individual mute button removing it from the mix whilst leaving the group output available separately.

There are two stereo compressor limiters (which may be un-ganged to make 4 mono devices) already in the desk and two spares which could also be fitted in the console. These are standalone, being internally powered but with inputs and outputs via jacks on the back – allowing them to be patched to any channel, group or the main output.

The vehicle is powered by a 1600cc petrol engine and, despite its age has covered only just over 24000m. It has a 5 speed manual gear box and has been well maintained. The current owner has replaced the tyres, brake master cylinder, exhaust and indicator / headlight stalk.
