Product Description
Cooper Time Cube for sale.
In full working order. Restored with new mic capsules of the correct original spec fitted (they are at either end of the hose).
Anyone who has tried speaking or passing sound through a length of pipe will understand some of what is happening here. The principle is in fact not dissimilar to a spring reverb which use transducers at either end to "send" and pick up the sound via the spring. In this case sound arrives at one end of the "analogue effect generator" (in this case a coil of pretty basic hose pipe), is transmitted by means of a mic capsule working in reverse as a speaker, and then the result is picked up at the other end by a second mic capsule.
There's a little more to it than that, with the Urei 1109 line amps providing the signal and aluminium tuning blocks at various points along the hose to allow you to adjust it to a flat frequency response as required (we do not recommend messing with this though!), but its beauty and uniqueness are it's simplicity.
The actual effect is somewhere between a doubler and chorus - a subtle but effective creation of width and space. One trick is routing one channel/hose into the other to give deeper effect. As the hoses are different lengths this adds a further dimension.
Do not open the main box of the unit unless it is lying down - it is full of polystyrene packing to insulate the hose and mics!
