Product Description
For those who are not expert in the different AMS iterations, the S-DMX is the final version AMS produced. It is considerably more powerful than a "standard" DMX - it is stereo in and out, can do pitch shifting/harmonizing, and has the sampling "lock in" function.
Memory is also huge on these - delay time is 6.515s per channel.
Serial Number: 5194
Tech Report:
IEC mains Filter/Voltage selector panel smoked and burnt out on power on.
Cleaned internals of all dust and rotted foam with compressed air, cleaned fan. (fan OK)
Removed all cards.
Secured loose transformer.
Tightened loose pots and switches.
Replaced missing grub screw from XLR input.
Re-capped PSU and motherboard.
Fitted new IEC Schnaffer filter/voltage panel.
Cleaned edge connector sockets.
Lubricated switches.
Tested voltages(OK).
Re-capped daughter cards where necessary. Cleaned card edge connectors
Fitted new memory battery.
Assembled and fitted new ribbon cable set.
Now working but no output on Ch. B.
Located to intermittent MCB config switch. Cleaned and lubricated.
Now fully working.
Final adjustment of voltages to spec. 8hr burn test. Test battery charging and NVRAM data retention. Passed.
Please Note: It is very important all vintage AMS RMX & DMX series rackmounts are powered for at least an hour at least every 6 months or risk of NVRAM battery leakage is greatly increased. It is highly recommended the battery is replaced every 5 years as routine maintenance on these units to avoid severe damage to the processor card.
