Excellent condition and working order - the Grand-daddy of the mighty Space Echo, an Ace Tone EC-20 Echo Chamber.

This is a vintage Japanese tape echo, fully serviced and refurbished with parts replaced as needed to bring it up to a high standard of operation. We really like these fore-runners of the legendary Roland Space Echo tape echo units - the slider controls lend themselves to being "played" maybe more than knobs. Ace Tone is the company founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi who went on to found the Roland Corporation - they are high quality machines with a really great sound (demos below).

Price includes VAT at 20% (for sales in UK/EU) - buyers outside the EU please contact us for tax-free prices. VAT-free sales possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number.

Condition of this unit is very good with only minimal signs of age. There are marks around the power switch, but other than that is just minor marks to the casing and some oxidation to the jack sockets and lid clips.

We've done two Ace Tone demos, both featuring another EC-20 unit we sold. The first features guitar and a 70s Ace Tone FM-3 Fuzz Master pedal, and in the second a late 60s Rhythm Ace FR-1 drum machine through the fuzz pedal and the EC-20 (producing some wild and (very) analogue techno...).

  • It is a 100v Japanese model and will run fine on North American mains 115/120v without a transformer (we run all our tests using 120v power); however, a step-down transformer is recommended for extended use.
  • A step-down transformer is required in the UK/EU.
  • We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.

There are no known operational faults with this unit. (Please note: it is always possible with vintage equipment that some crackly pots/sliders may develop over time when equipment has not been used - even during a short delivery period - this can usually be easily rectified either by use or with a bit of switch-cleaning spray).
