Dub Special - Prince Fatty Consignment
We have a heavyweight consignment of mouth-watering vintage gear just arrived hot from the studio of Mike "Prince Fatty" Pelanconi. He is undoubtedly on the vanguard of the new wave of dub producers now following and building on the traditions and techniques of dub. We're long time fans (see his live dubs on youtube!) so getting our hands on some of his essential studio tools is a source of much excitement.
Some items will be sold via the site, others by a sealed bid auction ending on Wednesday 9th November at 12pm GMT.
The pair of Gates Solid Statesman AGC broadcast limiters are a something of a studio secret weapon about which Prince Fatty has this to say:
'...classic 1950s american passive similar to Pultec. It is unique as you can boost/cut 40hz. Super larger and very good for Kick and Reggae Bass related duties. The gain make up stage is class A/B with Marinair transformer so no gain loss when inserting via patchbay/interface.'It will be sold via the sealed bid auction detailed above. It has been converted to 240v operation and is in good working order and covered by our usual guarantee. Very clean condition for its age: see a full set of photos of the unit here and email bids or any questions to tony@soundgas.com

'these are overlooked 1960s broadcast compressors with huge transformers and are very warm sounding. Very clever and musical HF reduction when hit hard, I used these a lot for vocal stems and also for gentle drum compression. They are solid state but behave in a tube MU style sound-wise. Can be used for mastering.'They are for sale via this listing on the site as a pair, but we will consider offers for one unit - get in touch if interested.
