BID EXTENSIONS / OVERTIME
In common with some other auction sites (and in-person auctions generally) our auctions will be extended if a bid is placed close to the end time. For most auctions, if a bid is placed within five minutes of the end of the countdown an additional five minutes will be added to the clock – for high value items the time period may be longer as stated in the item description.
Unlike eBay, bid sniping is not possible on Soundgas auctions. All auctions will close at the displayed time unless a bid is placed within the final five minutes*, in which case the auction will be extended by an additional five minutes* (known as the ‘bidding extension window’). If a bid is placed in the bidding extension window, the countdown clock will have five minutes* added, and the auction will only finish when an entire bidding extension window passes without further bids being placed. This ensures every bidder has a fair and equal opportunity to place another bid. To avoid risk of missing a last minute bid, we advise you to enter your maximum proxy bid well before the auction end and allow the site’s automatic system to bid on your behalf.
*Note that the overtime period may be longer for some high value items – this will be noted in the item description.
Any auction that has been extended will say “currently in overtime” in red just above “Show Bids”. Refreshing your page will be necessary to see if further bids are placed.
