Product Description
Yamaha CS-80 for sale.
Complete with stand and sustain pedal (not pictured).
This is "Number 2" of the pair we discovered, the example we were able to power up and that is basically functioning with some issues (as you'd expect from a synth that has been dormant for 20-30 years). We made a video of the synth being woken up and tested. The prognosis is that this CS-80 can be brought back to fully operational condition with a full service performed by an experienced technician.*
All the critical Yamaha chips were functioning at the time of testing.
*No guarantee or warranty of any kind is implied: this synth is sold as found. We carried out the initial testing in situ: other faults may be present or may arise following transit or further use. We accept no responsibility for errors or faults that were not revealed or apparent during our initial testing. The videos should be taken as a guide only and any opinions expressed therein are personal and not part of the description or contract of sale. This synth is sold as being in need of restoration.
Please note we cannot undertake any service/restoration work as our synth queue still stretches into 2023.
Find a full set of nearly 100 photos here.
Soundgas head synth tech James Walker has performed initial assessments of both synths in situ: the resultant photos and video are in this listing, with even more photos available to view via this link.
Read this blog about our visit to meet the owner and inspect the units, including our first impressions and what happened when we woke one of them up after 20-30 years lying dormant...
SHIPPING will be arranged after the sale. We can ship by van courier to the UK and much of Europe - approximate costs are UK: £100, Europe: £500+. For overseas buyers the synth will need to be shipped on a pallet - it's very hard to estimate this as shipping costs are changing so much, however a US buyer should expect a cost of around £1000 (or more).
