Rare British-made WEM Powercat valve (tube) amp for sale in fully-restored condition and excellent working order.
These were only made for a short period of time in the mid sixties and are extremely hard to find: effectively an updated Joker, marrying a Dominator combo amp with Copicat - both valve units. This one's had a fair bit of work to bring it up to scratch - the Copicat has had a full electrical and mechanical service, and the amp's also had a full service. The power transformer was not correct/original and was not up to the correct spec; a replacement has been fitted and the difference is incredible. This vintage amp really rocks - superb tone and stunning break up - the original Goodmans speaker sounds superb. The tremolo is lovely - plenty of depth and no thump. Originally the Copicat was hard-wired, but we've fitted it with a short trailing lead for versatility - you can use it with another amp, or insert pedals in between the Copicat and amp. The Copicat plugs into the Tremolo channel - a fabulous combination effect.
The amp is loaded with original yellow print Mullard valves.
It's a lovely amp and has been much-enjoyed in the studio, but it's now time to pass it on.
This is a UK 240v mains-powered model and will require a step-up transformer for operation in countries with 110-117v mains supplies. The UK plug will be removed prior to shipping to countries with 240v mains supplies, unless otherwise requested.

“I’ve bought a number of items from Soundgas recently, and have been really impressed with their service. It takes the stress out of buying vintage gear to know it’s been properly (and faithfully) serviced or restored. Their after-sales service has also been exemplary. Highly recommended.”
