Telefunken Echomixer - Modified Vintage Germanium Spring Reverb
Telefunken Echomixer - vintage germanium spring reverb mixer for sale fully serviced and modified with switchable wet only output option (new replacement spring tank fitted).
Fully serviced and modified by the techs at Soundgas, this Telefunken Echomixer is ready for studio use. A compact analogue spring reverb mixer from early 1960s West Germany, the Echomixer has become something of a modern classic and is sought-after by musicians, engineers and producers for its unique vintage tones and textures and sound quality.
Built to Telefunken's exacting broadcast standards, this unit is a testament to the precision of sixties German design. It has been fitted with a new replacement spring reverb tank and carefully refurbished to ensure long-term reliability. These units are increasingly difficult to bring back to reliable operation - we hold a stock of donor machines to use for parts to ensure excellent performance.
Featuring three input channels:
- Channel A outputs a clean, dry signal
- Channels B & C are routed through the internal spring reverb
The reverb itself has a smooth, rich quality - more plate-like than the splashy response of many spring units. Used subtly, it adds space and depth; but when driven hard, it truly excels delivering rich warm harmonic saturation with classic germanium character. Our in-house expertise with vintage germanium preamps and circuits ensures this unit sounds exactly as it should - and better than most.
“Clean and plate-like at low levels, gloriously textured when pushed - a spring reverb with real studio presence that excels when recording, especially on guitars.”
Applications:
Perfect for guitars, synths, vocals, drums, drum machines, and samples/loops - anything where you want extra depth, texture, or vintage ambience. Converted to quarter inch jack inputs and a trailing output lead, this Echomixer integrates perfectly into a modern recording setup.
Creative suggestions:
- Drive guitars or drums through the dry or wet channel for extra textured tones
- Run 2 or 3 different sources into the Echomixer and mix them to sum/glue them together and add a touch of spring to the result
- Use a delay (for maximum vintage effect try a tape echo - e.g. RE-201, EP-2) before the spring for a wider range of ambient reverb effects
- Send the wet output of a digital reverb through the Echomixer dry channel to add vintage analogue colour
Important: Spring tanks are sensitive to vibration and external interference and should be positioned carefully and isolated from mechanical vibrations during use.
Professionally serviced and earthed for electrical safety - ready to ship and put to work.
