Introduced by Roland in 1976, it is said that only 40 full systems were produced. It is stunning in the flesh, an epic achievement featuring the best of Japanese engineering. The build quality is matched by the sound which is simply wonderful: rich, warm, muscular but also subtle, musical, delicate. The sequencer is unique - I am still haunted by the time I spent with the last one we sold (a much smaller 'basic' system) - nothing else has come close since.
You are limited only by your own abilities - this is grown up synthesis in glorious Technicolor. A true 'Holy Grail' synth.
Do be warned that it only gets a user rating of 3 stars on VSE - from 480 votes (how many of those voters have encountered one?) - so this might adversely affect future value ;-)
The synth is being sympathetically restored and will be supplied fully serviced/calibrated by us.

The System 700 was Roland’s answer to the Moog Modular: it offers similar muscle combined with the very best of 70s Japanese design, engineering, build quality and synth expertise. Legend has it that only 40 full systems were produced from launch in 1976: it represents the absolute pinnacle of Roland synthesis and may well be the best synth ever made [Please note: this is the author’s personal opinion rather than official Internet ‘fact’, Ed.] . It is on many synth aficionados’ bucket list (mine included) and has been used by a good many of the dons of electronic music.
