Product Description
Roland SH-101 for sale. A chance to get hold of one of these iconic synths backed by our guarantee of your satisfaction.
This was a very exciting (for us anyway) find - a 101 that is actually the original grey colour, rather than the slightly faded yellow/grey that is the norm for these. Even James had never seen one like this. We can't say it is totally "mint"/un-used because it appears it has a faint trace of battery damage, but nothing visible on the exterior, and nothing that affected the circuitry.
Midi Upgrade: we'd rather not modify this given its exceptional condition. If you want a 101 with Tubbutec midi let us know as we should have one we can supply.
Essentially what you have is an analogue monophonic bass synth with more than a little TB-303 sonic influence; they were (and still are) used by a whole slew of electronic music pioneers from rave purveyors 808 State and The Prodigy to industrial noise-mongers Nitzer Ebb and KMFDM to experimentalists Boards of Canada and Squarepusher.
Everyone who knows synth fans who say "I traded mine in the 80s and always regretted it..."
Requires a 9v or 12v DC Centre Negative power supply (no included). Note that you cannot use a cheap switching supply with these (or you will get interference). If you don't have an old fixed voltage supply then we recommend a new Boss branded one for these.
