Excellent Roland RE-201 Space Echo for sale serviced and in superb working order with our early preamp mod and performance that comes very close to Zero Head Gain.
This is one of the better performing machines we've had at this level for some time.
EARLY PREAMPS? We have modified this to have the same preamp spec as the very early Space Echoes. These clip more evenly and more musically. They also do so at a lower signal strength which gives a little more control; they sound particularly good with guitar. We only do this to machines that are performing extremely well; in particular it is essential that the heads are at peak performance in order to get the full benefit of the modification.
This machine has been given the full Soundgas overhaul by our echo experts which, in addition to our ‘basic’ top service, recapping and set up, includes:

Refurbished pinch roller – an original pinch roller with a new bearing and new rubber. These are very time consuming to produce, but only the best will give the best long term performance.
Heads are re-lapped to bring performance to better-than Roland factory spec.
New switchable voltage transformer installed – it will be set up for 120 or 220/240v mains before we ship.
Serviced/rebuilt or new motor as required.
Every machine is also tested by a musician using their ears as well as our techs using their ‘scopes (all our techs are also musicians) before shipping.
Every one is supplied with 12 months warranty and ongoing service support.

REPLACEMENT TAPES: Fitting any tapes other than those from us or Echo Fix will invalidate the warranty on our machines. We have sourced unused and dry-stored tape stock which is as close to original RT-1L tape formulation as possible (without conclusive confirmation from Roland themselves we cannot describe it as being an exact match) for their original RT-1L replacement loops and limited stocks of our replacement loops are available now. We’ve written a bit about our journeys in tape, which replacement loops to use in your Roland echo, not to mention the misinformation and poor quality tapes that seem to fill the internet. We may also have a very limited supply of sealed original NOS RT1-L tapes – see our store or get in touch.
Some crackle is possible from pots/switches if not used for longer periods - this should clear with use.
