Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm - SN 770380
Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm - vintage analogue drum machine - serviced and for sale (serial number 770380).
Fully serviced and in excellent working order, this Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm is ready to deliver its iconic analogue beats to your recordings. Supplied with our standard 3-month Soundgas warranty and backed by ongoing service support.
Originally a 100v Japanese machine, this has been converted to run on 220/240v UK/EU mains power.
Overall it is in excellent condition aside from a significant ding in the top front edge of the 'wooden' case which we are working on improving.
Released in 1978, the CR-78 was one of the first programmable drum machines to combine user-editable patterns with a broad selection of preset rhythms - including waltz, rhumba, bossa nova, and many more. It features 34 built-in patterns, with real-time control over variation, fill-in, and fade in/out. It can also sync to other gear via its external clock input.
The CR-78’s distinctive analogue percussion sounds - including bass drum, snare, hi-hats, congas, bongos, cymbals, rimshot, tambourine, and more - have made it a staple in both vintage and modern productions.
“From ambient electronic pulses to classic synthpop, the CR-78’s heart beats through music from the 80s to the present day.”
Famous uses of the Roland CR-78 include:
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Enola Gay
Blondie - Heart of Glass
John Foxx - Metamatic
Also heard on recordings by Ultravox, Genesis, Gary Numan, and others
This unit has been thoroughly serviced and is fully functional - all controls operate as they should, and it performs beautifully. Clean, reliable, and ready to integrate into your studio set up.
“A classic electronic music studio staple - restored, reliable, and ready to create for the next decade or two.”
