Product Description
Rickenbacker 518 Triple Neck Console Lap Steel for sale.
This is a lovely lap steel to play and sounds wonderful. It has three of the fabled Rickenbacker horseshoe pickups (as used on the original frying pan lap steels from the 1930s onwards) which sound rich and warm. Complete with original case and legs (the case handle is missing its plastic or bakelite handle). We think this guitar dates from the late 50s or early 60s.
We have not restrung it: there appear to be almost as many different tunings as steel players out there so it's left for the buyer to decide. Tony's been experimenting with a variety of tunings on this one (he was very reluctant to give it back to us for listing) and is more than happy to advise, but it's playing very well.
