Moog Minimoog Model D 1975

1975 Moog Minimoog Model D for sale following a total chassis-up rebuild by James Walker at Soundgas.

This is a rare chance to buy as near new a 50 year old Minimoog as you could wish for. Following the restoration it is in several ways better than when it left the factory.

From factory, the original oscillator board as found in this Model D can suffer tuning instabilities but James rectifies this. Later boards are more stable, but are perhaps a little 'too' stable - there's real magic in the sound of these earlier oscillators which is lost with the later revision. James' work retains the timbre and tonality that we love, while making the synth more playable with reliable tuning compared to the original.

There are many other tweaks and tricks under the hood to squeeze the very best performance out of this synth, while retaining it's vintage charm and sonic signature.

The new oiled walnut case was handbuilt for us by a master cabinetmaker using the original case as a template: it is without doubt the finest I've ever seen and cost £800.

James has poured many, many hours of detailed work into this synth to create the ultimate vintage Minimoog which is ready to give reliable service for the next 50 years.

While the finish date is January 10th 1975, much of the synth dates to 1974.

It sounds and looks absolutely stunning: I've never seen a Minimoog of this age look so sharp.

In stunning cosmetic condition following a thorough and detailed restoration. Only very minor signs of age/wear. Oiled walnut case presents beautifully - far superior quality wood/finish. See photos for more information.
