Maestro Echoplex EP-3
Maestro Echoplex EP-3
Brand: Maestro/Gibson
Sorry it's gone. We may have another in stock or on the way. Please enquire below (or check our weekly Gear Update for incoming rarities).
Very good example of this solid state Echoplex just back from a full service. In excellent working order and good condition. These early transistor machines are highly sought-after for their preamp sound (just ask Jimmy Page or Eddie Van Halen)
We love Echoplexes, whether solid state or valve (we also have a couple of valve EP2s just back from servicing - get in touch if they're not on the site) - a simple interface and a great sound - for us they are simply the best vintage single head tape delays you can buy.
Condition is very good with usual signs of age and use; some scuffs to the tolex; evidence of a non-original handle being previously-fitted; the instruction sheet inside the lid is a photocopy; the original plastic tape cover is missing. However, the cartridge has been rewound with new tape and this Echoplex is sounding excellent - great repeats and of course, that fabulous guitar preamp section.
Mike Battle was involved in the design of these machines - he was unhappy with the sound (so much so that he sold his stake in the company), but plenty of 70s and 80s musicians thought otherwise. In particular the sound of the FET-based preamp found favour with such guitar luminaries as Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, Tom Verlaine and Andy Summers.
Naturally it's a 110 US voltage unit - we can supply a high quality UK-made transformer if required.
For sales in UK/EU the price will include VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number - please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.

“I’ve bought a number of items from Soundgas recently, and have been really impressed with their service. It takes the stress out of buying vintage gear to know it’s been properly (and faithfully) serviced or restored. Their after-sales service has also been exemplary. Highly recommended.”

“Imagine the perfect eBay.... with everything you never knew you wanted… and you can rest assured that your vintage and rare wobbly sound device will turn up on time and in one piece and possibly in even better condition that when it left the workshop. Soundgas - literally amazing."
