Hawk HR-15 Spring Reverb
Hawk HR-15 Spring Reverb
Brand: Hawk
Sorry it's gone. We may have another in stock or on the way. Please enquire below (or check our weekly Gear Update for incoming rarities).
A simple, high quality 70s Japanese spring reverb that overdrives well. We've had a number of different units from this era and range now and they always impress us.
This is a very simple unit, in theory just for adding reverb to vocals from a mic in. Two quarter inch input sockets on the front and one for output on the back is all you get, plus a control for the amount of reverb. The sound quality is good, especially for the size of the unit and we like this one with just a little bit of reverb dialled in; however, as with all these units (for us anyway) the real action is when you abuse and overdrive them, putting things like drum machines through the mic inputs. Great crunchy distortion.
We've got into these vintage Japanese machines – read all about them in our Hawk/Mirano tape echo and spring reverb blog post.
This Hawk HR-15 is for sale in fair, used condition, serviced and working well; has various scuffs to the finish and some oxidation on one of the knobs.
For sales in UK/EU the price will include VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number - please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.
- It is a 100v Japanese model and will run fine on North American mains 115/120v without a transformer (we run all our tests using 120v power); however, a step-down transformer is recommended for extended use.
- A step-down transformer is required in the UK/EU - it will require a minimum 100va transformer, more if you want to use the internal amp to drive speakers (please ask you need advice on this).
- We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.

“I’ve bought a number of items from Soundgas recently, and have been really impressed with their service. It takes the stress out of buying vintage gear to know it’s been properly (and faithfully) serviced or restored. Their after-sales service has also been exemplary. Highly recommended.”
