Hawk "Hawksound" HS-111 Spring Reverb
Hawk "Hawksound" HS-111 Spring Reverb
Brand: Hawk
Sorry it's gone. We may have another in stock or on the way. Please enquire below (or check our weekly Gear Update for incoming rarities).
A very simple, high quality 70s Japanese spring reverb. Built for some sort of home hifi use this one has very limited inputs and controls but the same build quality as the rest of the range. We've had a number of different units from this era although this one is a first for us (wish they'd made more with that great "Hawksound" logo though!).
This is a very simple unit indeed. Input is via a single quarter inch input socket on the rear and output is via dual-mono phono sockets; on the front all you have is a control for the amount of reverb. So definitely minimalist, but the sound quality is good, especially for the size of the unit. As with all these units (for us anyway) we are always interested in what happens when you abuse and overdrive them; in this case the distortion we've got from it isn't as immediately full on as the units that have a mic input, but that said you should be able to get more if you push it more on the way in.
This Hawk HS-111 is for sale in excellent condition, tested and working well; some minor scuffs and dings as you would expect for its age.
For sales in UK/EU the price will include VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number - please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.
- It is a 100v Japanese model and will run fine on North American mains 115/120v without a transformer (we run all our tests using 120v power); however, a step-down transformer is recommended for extended use.
- A step-down transformer is required in the UK/EU - it will require a minimum 100va transformer, more if you want to use the internal amp to drive speakers (please ask you need advice on this).
- We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.

“I’ve bought a number of items from Soundgas recently, and have been really impressed with their service. It takes the stress out of buying vintage gear to know it’s been properly (and faithfully) serviced or restored. Their after-sales service has also been exemplary. Highly recommended.”
