Schulte Compact Phasing 'A' phase shifter effect for sale with one of our custom dual footswitches which unlocks all the control/switching options. It has two footswitches for LFO start/stop and fast/slow speed selection, and twin rotary pots for the manual control (centre frequency) and fast speed setting.
Will ship following a full service/checkover.
Mono in, stereo out on a TRS jack.
It's a UK/EU 220v model, but can be jumpered internally to operate at 110v - otherwise a step-up transformer can be used - we do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers.
Known as 'The Krautrock Phaser' - it was ubiquitous in Germany in the seventies and used by pretty much everyone from Kraftwerk to Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze to Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple.
It is also my favourite phaser (top of a very long list): when used with our custom control pedal you can sweep the frequency manually for the thickest/fattest chewy phasing. There is nothing quite like a Compact Phasing 'A' and I use mine on every studio session.
They can be a little unpredictable and - like many of the artists who used them in Germany in the 70s - somewhat enigmatic - it's not always immediately apparent what exactly is going on when you turn some of the knobs, but its part of the appeal - use your ears and tweak to taste!
It is utterly brilliant and sonically very distinctive - especially when used with the custom controller which unlocks extra functionality and allows compelling manual filter-style sweeps.

MORE ABOUT THE KRAUTROCK PHASER:
Made in Germany in the early 70s by Gerd Schulte Audio, these mono in/stereo out analogue phasers found favour with some of the most iconic artists of the seventies, including Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, JM Jarre, and Rainbow's John Lord and Ritchie Blackmore. Its use by many of the early seventies' most influential German groups has lead to it becoming known as the 'Krautrock Phaser'.
It took me years of hunting to find one of these for the studio - not many were made, and they weren't common at all outside Europe back then. They still don't come up for sale very often as people tend to hang on to them. Mine is a permanent fixture in my studio rig - the thick filter-sweep style stereo phasing is unlike any other phaser - utterly addictive and inspiring to play through - a mix and dub essential for me (my Mu-tron Bi-Phase barely gets a look in these days).
Though it's capable of some very subtle and lush effects, it's when you really crank it up that things get interesting: this is unlike any other phaser - it has a sound (and a life) all of its own and at extreme settings is almost filter-like. It's not the most intuitive phaser to use when you first get started - the controls interact in unusual ways - but it rewards perseverance with some amazing sounds.
