Product Description

This is a preorder listing (all photos are of the unit for sale). This Echorec is currently awaiting overhaul and modification. Shipping will be around 3 months from ordering.

Supplied working flawlessly and sounding superb - all Binson restorations are completed by our echo tech department overseen by head tech and Binson expert, Dr. Huw. All Soundgas Binsons come with 12 months' warranty (EU/USA/Canada) plus lifetime tech support for our customers. Comes complete with our Binson manual and original case in excellent order; Tony is on hand to answer your Binson questions prior to ordering, or in the future.

Modifications:

Super-slow varispeed motor (recommended) and wet-only modifications can be added during service at an additional cost of £700 (making the total £3850). Contact us, or add a note to your order and we'll amend the invoice to include mods.

The Super-Slow Varispeed Motor offers the full functionality of a standard Binson but with the advantage of being able to tempo match the repeats. Binsons have fixed-speed motors which will run fast in the USA (unless they are specific export models) due to the different mains frequency, which is something Pink Floyd discovered on the eve of their first US tour. The tempo of their songs was determined by the Echorecs' repeat patterns so their tech spent a sleepless night moving all the heads to compensate. In addition to allowing tempo-matching to the song, and longer echoes (allowing a Baby Binson to achieve similar echo lengths to an Echorec 2), the super-slow motor offers the option of much longer, darker, dirtier repeats. This can get properly gnarly when pushed into distortion at slow speed. Please note that at the very slowest speeds there is very little fidelity or feedback: this should be viewed as a bonus for special effects use rather than more traditional guitar echoes. A control knob is placed on the side of the machine near the sockets for motor speed.

Wet-only output requires an extra socket (located on the side) and is for use with a mixing console or effects loop.

Our Binsons generally sell very quickly, usually before we can get them listed. If you are interested in getting one of these machines serviced and set up to our exacting standards then please get in touch to reserve one.

Condition

In excellent cosmetic condition with only minor wear. The face and knobs are very clean originals with some glue residue on the inside near the pointers. This one is missing the silver metal lid (all the better to see the disc for). The chassis is very good having some dings and oxidation patches around the edges. Internally, this unit is excellent. The wooden case is excellent with some scuffing and wear around the edges and corners. See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.

Voltage Information

Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.

Tax

For sales in UK/EU the price will include 20% VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number - please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.
