Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-2L
Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-2L
Brand: Ace Tone
Sorry it's gone. We may have another in stock or on the way. Please enquire below (or check our weekly Gear Update for incoming rarities).
This 60s Ace Tone drum machine is a favourite in the office - it nails those classic, "woody", full-bodied early analogue drum sounds and it's perfectly designed for stacking lots of other gear on.
Serviced and working well.
Condition is very good. Some yellowing of the buttons and minor scuffs and dings but for it's age it is very clean.
For sales in UK/EU the price will include VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number - please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.
-
It is a 100v Japanese model and will run fine on North American mains 115/120v without a transformer (we run all our tests using 120v power)
- A step-down transformer is required in the UK/EU.
- We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.
Very similar to the FR-1 - it actually has the same controls, except that the order of the presets is reversed and it has no bass drum cut out switch. And of course it is a radically different shape - flattened out so it could sit on top of your organ.
Ace Tone was started by Ikutaro Kakehashi who went on to found the Roland Corporation. The build quality and attention to detail is generally great – these machines were built to last.
Here's one of a number of demos you will find on our Instagram featuring a similar unit we have for sale. Here's one to get you going:
Working well. Some crackle can develop but this will clear with use.

"Excellent equipment, wonderful service. I fully recommend Soundgas to anyone in the vintage gear market and I will definitely be a return customer. The gear itself was exactly as advertised and in great condition."
DAVID WRENCH
“I’ve bought a number of items from Soundgas recently, and have been really impressed with their service. It takes the stress out of buying vintage gear to know it’s been properly (and faithfully) serviced or restored. Their after-sales service has also been exemplary. Highly recommended.”
TOM JOHNSTON

“Imagine the perfect eBay.... with everything you never knew you wanted… and you can rest assured that your vintage and rare wobbly sound device will turn up on time and in one piece and possibly in even better condition that when it left the workshop. Soundgas - literally amazing."
