Possibly the finest example in the world today: this System 700 appears to have barely been used and is in exceptional condition. We are seeking more examples - buyers waiting.

A remarkable, almost unused example of the pinnacle of 1970s synthesizer design.
This three section ‘compact’ Roland System 700 has arrived at Soundgas.
The System 700 was Roland’s answer to the Moog Modular: it offers similar muscle combined with the very best of 70s Japanese design, engineering, build quality and synth expertise. Legend has it that only 40 full systems were produced from launch in 1976: it represents the absolute pinnacle of Roland synthesis and may well be the best synth ever made [Please note: this is the author’s personal opinion rather than official Internet ‘fact’, Ed.] . It is on many synth aficionados’ bucket list (mine included) and has been used by a good many of the dons of electronic music.
The arrival of such a synth unicorn in any condition would cause a fair degree of excitement here at Soundgas HQ, but standing before one that appears to have been barely used, with near mint factory fresh finish, is quite literally, awesome. The paintwork gleams; button colours are vibrant and clean; knobs and sliders feel/look like new; the rims of each socket shine. There is some minor wear to the external tolex case covering and the original patch cables aren’t so well-preserved, but that is frankly nit-picking. This is quite possibly the best-preserved example of a System 700 in the world.
Please email [email protected] if you have one to sell.
The system contains the following modules:
Block 1: Main console – 702A, 702B, 702C, 708A, 703E, 703B, 704A, 704B, 711A; 712A, 706A, 706B, 709A, 707A, 705A, 716A, 710A, 718A
Block 2: Keyboard controller – 701A
Block 3: Analog sequencer – 717A
Remarkable. Seems to have been stored in its cases for many years. The tolex has minor marks but the controls and panels show no signs of use or age.
Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.
For sales in UK the price will include 20% VAT. Buyers elsewhere may incur VAT or other local taxes on import.
Our first tests after switching the synth on – totally unserviced!
