PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Simple 70s Japanese spring reverb that also overdrives well via mic inputs. We’ve had a number of different units from this era and range now and they always impress us.

Working but will be serviced and tested by our tech before shipping. Will ship within 5 working days of purchase.

The Hawk HR-15 “Echo Unit” is a very simple piece of gear, in theory just for adding reverb to vocals from on or two mics. Two quarter inch input sockets on the front and one for output on the back is all you get, plus a control for the amount of reverb. The sound quality is good, especially for the size of the unit and we like this one with just a little bit of reverb dialled in; however, as with all these units (for us anyway) the real action is when you abuse and overdrive them, putting things like drum machines through the mic inputs. Great crunchy distortion if you can get the input signal hot enough.

We’ve got into these vintage Japanese machines – read all about them in our Hawk/Mirano tape echo and spring reverb blog post.

CONDITION: Very good over all. Some signs of use but nothing major.

For sales in UK/EU the price will include VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number – please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.

VOLTAGE:

  • It is a 100v Japanese model and will run fine on North American mains 115/120v without a transformer (we run all our tests using 120v power); however, a step-down transformer is recommended for extended use.
  • A step-down transformer is required in the UK/EU – it will require a minimum 100va transformer, more if you want to use the internal amp to drive speakers (please ask you need advice on this).
  • We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.
