Description

Super rare early delay pedal – unfortunately the Reticon CCD chip (pre Bucket Brigade – ‘Charge-Coupled Device’) was dead on arrival.

Our tech used 2x V3205 CoolAudio BBD chips to get a good maximum delay time, somewhat longer than the DM-1 would have had. These machines use a clever trick that increases the filtering as you increase delay time, but this was super dark with the new BBDs, so he divided the clock in half for and sped it up for the filtering, resulting in a good approximation the DM-1 sound – dark and grainy.

He notes that it needs feeding with the right level – too much and it will distort, too little and it’s noisy. Hit it right and it self-oscillates nicely.
