For sale: a beautifully preserved original EMS Synthi AKS in excellent cosmetic condition and perfect working order, complete with original patch cables and manuals. This iconic portable analogue synthesizer from Electronic Music Studios (EMS) is one of the most sought-after and musically inspiring synths of the 20th century – and this example is among the cleanest we've seen.

This unit has just returned from a full service and calibration by our trusted EMS specialist. It's performing very well and is ready to integrate into your studio or collection.

The Synthi AKS is renowned for its distinctive sound and flexible architecture – a full analogue modular synthesizer with a patch pin matrix, housed in a compact suitcase design with built-in KS sequencer keyboard. This model helped define the sound of 1970s electronic and experimental music, famously used by artists such as Brian Eno, Pink Floyd, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Klaus Schulze.

This example has clearly led a very sheltered life – the front panel is in exceptional condition with barely any visible signs of use, which is very unusual for an instrument of this age. The original KS section cover was cracked and has been carefully repaired and reinforced during servicing. All other controls and functions are working as they should.

Condition

In stunning overall condition - one of the best we've seen. Some very minor marks on the faceplate but nothing major - it looks almost new. A couple of pots have scuffed tops. The KS Section has some cracking and damage to the thin/brittle plastic cover and there are some light scratches to the keyboard (see photo). Includes manual and connection cable.
