Preliminary listing with quick photos.
The varispeed mod works well – there is some mechanical noise from the new motor at higher speeds and the repeats become much darker and less prone to feedback at very slow speeds (the speed control range is wide – this allows some unusual effects).
This machine has had a significant amount of time from the tech during the restoration and is looking great, but please note that this is a vintage unit, not NOS. The heads have been refaced and the drum rewound, all boards cleaned and rewired where necessary and the chassis stripped back to bare metal and refinished. It is working superbly, but is a vinatge machine so some crackle/noise is possible from the pots/switches. The custom powder-coated finish is very distinctive and classy – a great and unique looking machine

Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, on a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning disc which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the product of an accumulation of hundreds of hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, tweaking and listening to them. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may only be short in terms of functioning (how many people tell us they’ve got a Binson from somewhere that is “90% there…”); but in our experience they can be a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to get to that ultimate goal.
