Soundgas are pleased to offer for sale is this US-made 'Tweed' Fender Champ valve (tube) amp dating from October 1960 in excellent cosmetic condition and superb working order. This is a particularly good - and loud at 6w - sounding example: very clear, rich tone - the original speaker working very well.
It's been serviced, had the 'death cap' removed and been fitted with an earthed mains cable so is ready to safely rock your world. At some point in the past, a replacement leather handle has been fitted.
One of the great recording amps of all time: it sounds fantastic and has tone for days: a great 'crunch' amp. It is in very good original condition apart from the handle, 3-core power cord, the death cap and various out-of-spec minor components removed in the past - all major and important original parts are present.
The original speaker is in excellent condition and sounding superb for it's 54 years. For those who want to use their amps in anger, rather than just look at them, we do advise customers to fit a Weber Alnico Signature 8S - an excellent modern replacement driver for the Tweed Champ. Not only does this save the original speaker from further wear, but we find the tone is usually much-improved (though in this case, the original is working beautifully): more volume, definition and bottom end. Whilst collectors like to see original speakers, fitting a more efficient modern speaker can maximise these amps' potential tone-wise.
It is of course a USA 110v mains unit so will require a step-down transformer for UK/EU use.
