The Soundgas Studio console for sale – up to 36 stereo channels, 10 aux sends.
Description
Ex-Granada TV Calrec Q-series console – originally 72 stereo channels – reduced to a more manageable size – now 36 stereo channels. Two of these stunning consoles were built to ITV’s specification and saw use in the heyday of Granada TV broadcasting from their studios in Manchester. The spec, build and sound quality is exceptional. It has 10 aux sends and up to 4 onboard compressor/limiters (by negotiation), plus the most comprehensive routing options imaginable. There’s not much that isn’t possible with this desk: we have been using 16 stereo channels (hence most photos show some missing – removed for recapping).
A console of this age requires a great deal of work to be as close to 100% reliable as possible and we have to date invested a great deal of time and money, but it is an ongoing process. Below are details of the included modules and how many have been completely recapped. There is still much to do, but this has been the heart of our studio and was used for our work with Ben Frost on Dark series two and three for Netflix. We are parting with this because we can no longer justify the ongoing expense – Covid and Brexit have taken their toll. And we need the studio space for tech/manufacturing.
