Valve/Tube Binson Echorec 2 T7E with our Super-Slow Varispeed Motor for sale. Working flawlessly and sounding superb following a service/rebuild with the addition of wet-only output mod on channel 3.
We are currently only restoring/upgrading three or four machines a year due to the amount of time required to achieve the results we require.
NOTE: The photos are of a previous unit sold, the machine available is in similar condition. If you need photos of the unit for sale, please let us know.
This is a pre-order listing; delivery is currently around 4 months from receipt of order.
The ultimate Echorec. Tony has been working with Binsons for over 25 years; these machines are the best you’ll hear, guaranteed.
We have one machine available to preorder now: full photos and audio demos will be sent once the restoration is complete. The buyer may request a full refund (or select an alternative machine) at any time after placing the order.
Demos of other machines below (further down the listing) – demos of this machine to follow.
Full restoration with varispeed and wet-only output mod (on output 3) performed by our echo tech, Dr Huw. This machine features a Super-Slow Varispeed Motor offering the full functionality of a standard Binson but with the advantage of being able to tempo match the repeats. The super-slow varispeed motor option offers the full functionality of regular speed uses, but with additional super-slow speeds for longer, darker, dirtier repeats. This can get properly gnarly when pushed into distortion at slow speed – it should be noted that at the slowest speeds very little fidelity or feedback happens – this is more for special effects rather than regular echo use.
Wet-only output added to channel 3 for use with a mixing console (or effects loop) if required.
Our Binsons (especially valve T7E units) sell very quickly, usually before we can get them listed. If you are interested in getting one of these machines serviced and set up to our exacting standards then please get in touch to reserve one **
In very good cosmetic condition; this unit is showing some wear and usual signs of age. The metal lid is a slightly different colour to the main body so must have been replaced at some point in the past.
For sales in UK/EU the price will include 20% VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number - please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.
Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.
Demos below of previous machines we’ve sold. Demos of this one to follow.

Binson Echorec 2 - came to us serviced/rewired. Full checkover, head realignment and super slow varispeed modification completed by our in-house tech, Dr Huw. Not as clean as our usual machines: a little more rust and a cracked faceplate. A good player’s machine, wet only mod option can be specified, if required. Available soon.
Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, with a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning drum which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the result of many hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, calibrating, listening, tweaking. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may appear to be short in purely functional terms (how many times do we hear of a Binson that is “nearly there, just needs a little extra calibration to be perfect…”); but they are a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to make them function and sounds as good as is possible.
To find out more about these machines – the history, how they work, and what we do to make them sing – head to our Binson pages now:
If a standard Echorec was considered adequate for Barrett, Gilmour, and Page, why would you modify a vintage Echorec with a variable speed motor?

But the clincher for me is that the gear they sell has been restored by their top techs (unless otherwise noted) which is really very important when dealing with, for example, synths from 30 years ago.”
