PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

One of the first RE-201s ever made, for sale in exceptional condition for such an early example. Overhauled by our tech and sounding superb. 120v transformer fitted.

Buy your 201 from the company who supplied Roland with Space Echoes for their ‘Cause And Effects’ show celebrating 40 years of Boss pedals – read more here.

You cannot determine the age of an RE-201 by the serial number, however there are a number of markers that denote age, the most significant being the early pre-amps which sound particularly good. This unit also has an original 3-brush motor which was only used in the first 201s. The motor has been serviced and is working well, however, if the buyer wants it changing for a reconditioned motor from a more recent Space Echo, this can be done at additional cost.

Sounding excellent and running very well following a full service by our tape echo specialist with various new parts as required, including new tape. Covered by our guarantee of your satisfaction.

120v machine. 240 machines usually available – if you don’t see what you need here please get in touch. See below for more info on voltage

CONDITION: Incredible cosmetic condition, especially given it’s one of the original production run of these machines. The face is very clean with no notable dings or scratches. The tolex is also excellent with only very minor scuffing around the edges. The internal surfaces also present well with just minor spots of oxidation across the chromed surfaces. This does not detract from the overall superb condition of the machine. See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.

Heads in excellent condition showing low wear.

For sales in UK/EU the price will include VAT. VAT-free sales are possible to businesses and individuals in the EU (outside the UK) with a valid VAT Number – please get in touch if you wish to buy this way.

Note that we may have machines in a range of conditions (and prices) coming through – check our other listings or get in touch if this unit here isn’t the right one for you.

We’re tape and disc echo specialists with many years’ experience working with and restoring these machines. Our BBC-trained engineer brings our tape delays up to (or better than) factory spec and our testing ensures machines that have superb reliability and – most important – that they sound incredible. Guaranteed to give reliable service and sound superb.

Visit our in-depth Roland tape echo information pages now for everything you need to know about these machines.

REPLACEMENT TAPES: We can supply tried and tested replacement Roland tape loops from us (they are supplied by Echofix). These are the only tapes we recommend for Roland echoes.

There are currently no operational issues with this machine, but please be aware that these units require looking after and that regular use and maintenance are key to keeping this in good working order.

Some crackle is always possible from pots/switches when not used for a while – this can be cleared with use.
