PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The original Chorus Echo. Brokerage sale for a machine we just serviced. Located in the EU.
We’re tape and disc echo specialists with many years’ experience working with and restoring these machines. Our team of engineers headed by BBC-trained Doctor Huw bring our tape delays up to (or better than) factory spec, and our testing ensures machines that have superb reliability and – most important – that they sound incredible. Guaranteed to give reliable service and sound superb.

- The BBC hired six of our RE-201s for the Proms’ television performance of Daphne Oram’s ‘Still Point’.
We’ve serviced and supplied machines for many artists and bands including Hannah Peel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys, Hainbach and Sunn O))).
Description
A chance for EU customers to pick up an RE-301 we have just worked on without any import costs. Shipping will be calculated after the sale. Note if you are outside the EU then we can still ship to you but import tax and shipping will reflect that you are buying from Europe.
Originally purchased by the current owner in Europe but it had only had some very basic work and did not sound good. We serviced it in April 2023 and it is now working very well and is a great sounding example.
Note that as this is a brokerage sale but for a machine we have recently worked on we will provide a 3 month warranty on the parts we worked on, plus ongoing service support as required.
INFORMATION ON WORK DONE:
- Replaced the filter caps and 470uf caps on the psu only. All other capacitors were replaced by a previous tech
- Replaced 0.47uf tant on audio board
- Checked capacitors on the audio board
- Cleaned pots, sockets and switches
- Re-honed tape heads
- Head alignment
- Top service including new pinch roller
- LED mod on meter
- Reverb tank service
- Replaced secondary fuse holders
- Has an original 220v transformer

The RE-301 is a great piece of kit: the multi-head echo combinations, Accutronics powered spring reverb, Roland chorus and the Sound On Sound feature all add up to a classic piece of studio gear.

REPLACEMENT TAPES: We recently worked out what formula Roland used for RT-1L loops and published the information. Fitting any tapes other than those from us (or Echo Fix) may invalidate the warranty on our machines. Limited stocks of our replacement loops are available now. We’ve written more about our journeys in tape, which replacement loops to use in your Roland echo, not to mention the misinformation and poor quality tapes that seem to fill the internet.
There are currently no operational issues with this machine, but please be aware that these units require looking after and that regular use and maintenance are key to keeping this in good working order.
Condition
In good cosmetic condition with scuffs and wear to the decals. The case is clean with only minor wear. Internally, this unit is excellent with some oxidation spotting to the chromed surfaces. Please see photos or get in touch if you require more information on condition.
Voltage Information
220/240v unit. A step-up transformer will be required for use on 110/120v supplies. Please ask if you need advice on what to use. We do not recommend using cheap, generic Chinese mains transformers.
