This unit has the early preamps that sound particularly sweet, especially with guitar – both preamp and reverb sound are different with these – they begin to break up and add character at lower input levels. This is the same spec as the one that Dan and Mick went so crazy over on That Pedal Show – they now have one of our machines for their studio.
It’s unusual to get an original early machine to sound this good (most have had too much run time; an easier route is to swap the early board into a low use later machine), but Will is a magician and he’s managed to get this already exceptional cosmetic example to that rare point where it is performing beyond our high standards for all our machines. Sounds superb.

One of our pinch rollers – more info to come about these, but essentially it’s an original pinch roller with a new bearing and new rubber (NOT silicone) time consuming to produce, but only the best will give the best long term performance,
Heads re-lapped to bring performance to better-than Roland factory spec – they are now more even and run at low head gain (so you have the maximum amount of headroom available),
Rebuilt motor
Every machine is also tested by a musician (test equipment: their ears!) before shipping. Every one supplied with 12 month warranty and ongoing service support.

REPLACEMENT TAPES: We recently worked out what formula Roland used for RT-1L loops and published the information.Fitting any tapes other than those from us (or anyone else using the same stock, or Echo Fix) may invalidate the warranty on our machines. Limited stocks of our replacement loops are available now. We’ve written more about our journeys in tape, which replacement loops to use in your Roland echo, not to mention the misinformation and poor quality tapes that seem to fill the internet. We may also have a very limited supply of sealed original NOS RT1-L tapes – see our store or get in touch.
There are currently no operational issues with this machine, but please be aware that these units require looking after and that regular use and maintenance are key to keeping this in good working order.
Condition
In superb cosmetic condition with only minor wear and signs of age to the face. The case is clean with minimal scuffing around the edges and corners. Internally, this unit is excellent with only small amounts of oxidation. Please see photos or get in touch if you require more information on condition.
Voltage Information
The voltage of this unit will be set up to your requirements with a new transformer fitted - either 120v or 240v. This means that the unit will ship within 10 days of purchase (please ask if you need it sooner and we will do our best!).

For sales in UK the price will include 20% VAT. Buyers elsewhere may incur VAT or other local taxes on import.

We often get asked if Roland Space and Chorus Echoes are reliable: a perfectly reasonable question, given that they're 30 to 40 (or more) years old.
Some of the nuggets of wisdom we've picked up as we've overhauled, tested & sold hundreds of tape echoes, as well as using them in our studio for many years, not to mention swapping tips with top musicians and producers around world.
Grabbed a Roland RE-201 (early edition killer pre-amp) and Roland DC-50. Absolutely STUNNING. These guys truly live up to the hype. They are meticulous in caring for the gear. Also, I have a few guitar pedal and plug-in emulations of tape-echo sounds and after plugging in the real unit I can't tell you how insane the difference is. It is incredible.
