Legendary, unique compressor. Option to take it without working meter or have a replacement fitted.
Legendary, unique compressor. Once again Eventide were ahead of the pack and heading off into the cosmos.
IMPORTANT: This unit has been fully serviced, however the meter on is broken. The price here is for it as it is, however there is an option to get a replacement fitted (more info below).
Sonically fully functional Omnipressor with a meter that no longer works: perfect for those who want the sound at a reduced price and are happy to use their ears rather than eyes!
Note that replacement meters can be obtained from Studio Electronics. These are correct replacements (although white which was the one used on the later model Omnipressor), however they require some technical knowledge and trial and error to fit and be fully functional. If you want this unit with a new meter fitted by us then the total price is £3550 (+VAT) – please contact us after your purchase to discuss this.

“Your Omnipressor loves you and wants to be your friend. If you don’t understand it, if you don’t fondle its controls properly, it will cause you hours of confusion, and tempt you to dash it on the rocks or put it in a sack and drown it. PLEASE READ this applications section before blaming your Omnipressor for malfeasance or devilry.”
Thus reads the original manual from this remarkable piece of gear, first released on the world in 1972.

Invented by Richard Factor, founder of Eventide, it introduced us to such staples as side chaining and look ahead processing: it was and is a truly revolutionary device that changed the face of recorded music forever.
It covers many bases from infinite compression to extreme expansion and, perhaps most importantly, the dynamic reversal function which allows you to increase the decay portion of a sound’s envelope while decreasing the attack. This is a very big part of this unit’s appeal and something that still sets it apart from all the Johnny come lately compressor/expanders out there. Famously used by Brian May of Queen, but don’t hold that against it, also thoroughly abused by Portishead.
This unit had been serviced including replacement of tantalum capacitors.
This work included a complete rebuild of the power supply – this will be completed after the sale and the unit set up for the buyer’s voltage (120 or 240v).
In excellent cosmetic condition with only minor signs of wear or age to the face. The buttons are wonky but this does not affect the functionality of the unit. Please see photos or get in touch if you require more information on condition.
Will be set up for either 120 or 240v operation before shipping.
For sales in UK the price will include 20% VAT. Buyers elsewhere may incur VAT or other local taxes on import.
