GURUS OPTIVALVE Optical Compressor/Limiter *PRE-ORDER*
Brand: Gurus
Sorry it's gone. We may have another in stock or on the way. Please enquire below (or check our weekly Gear Update for incoming rarities).
The latest creation from the Italian tone laboratories of Chicco and the Gurus team, this is the Optivalve - a valve (tube) optical compressor/limiter in pedal form. This is based partly on the circuit design of the legendary LA2A studio compressor and we're very excited about it.
BACK IN STOCK SOON - pre-order now to receive yours as soon as our stock lands.
After the awards and reviews garnered by their last two pedals - the Echosex 2 and the 1959 Double Decker - it's great that they have brought the same expertise and quality to a compressor pedal. We expect this unit to quickly become a fixture on many pedalboards, but like their previous two releases it also has clear applications for other instruments, and in the studio as outboard.
Can be used both as a standard compressor, or as a limiter to obtain maximum clean volume from your amp without adding crunch. The simulated "magic eye" (OK, it's just green LEDs through the valve, but it looks cool) gives you a feel for the compression level. Superb build quality and a design that matches the other units in the range.
We'll add more detailed thoughts and our own demos soon. Gurus own video demo is below.
For a great investigation and in-depth video demos of this pedal we'd recommend the Gilmourish.com Gurus Optivalve Review.
Please note that there's no power supply included with the pedal: it takes a standard 9 or 12 volt centre negative supply (290mA max); we can supply a new UK PSU if required.
Comes with Gurus' usual two year warranty.

“I’ve bought a number of items from Soundgas recently, and have been really impressed with their service. It takes the stress out of buying vintage gear to know it’s been properly (and faithfully) serviced or restored. Their after-sales service has also been exemplary. Highly recommended.”
