It was originally intended as a mono “program equalizer”,  since stereo playback in recording, broadcast, etc. hadn’t yet become the predominant format.\u003c\/span\u003e Technology moved forward, but the EQP and it’s variants were so beloved that it remained a single channel processor until phased out in 1981. In practical use, the EQP served beautifully inserted over individual sources, imparting it’s unique tube-tone even when no EQ was applied, but two of them strapped across the stereo bus, or as part of the mastering chain, offered a radiant tone that made the EQP equally as desirable in those applications.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"preFade fadeIn\"\u003eNow, in its original battle-ship grey glory, AudioScape has created the stereo EQP-2A.
