We were cautiously optimistic when we found this promising looking stock from a radio station in a dry part of the USA. Testing revealed the performance to be excellent. It has been used at least once but the tape is in very good condition.
We fit 3 metre loops in Space Echoes: there’s enough for 180 loops in this reel!
To get the full story read the new blog about this, the final chapter in our quest to find the real Space Echo tape.
This tape will work well in a variety of machines as well as Roland echoes – it’s a drop in replacement for Korg Stage Echoes, modern echoes that use the same tape as Roland machines, and also works well in our beloved HH Slider Echo (which usually prefers a thicker tape – see our previous blog). It should also be good for reloading Echoplex or Fulltone cartridges (not a service we can currently offer, sorry). We’ve made short loops for Hawk and Dynacord echoes that run very well indeed and at some point we hope to start widening the range of tape loops we supply to give people a reliable alternative to the many less than stellar options currently available.

All tape is not equal. Many (most?) tapes available online do not perform well in Roland echoes... Based on our experience working on hundreds of tape echoes and trying many tapes, this is the answer to the question: Which is the best tape loop for my Roland (or Korg!) tape echo?
Info & video showing you how to change the tape loop on a Roland Space Echo RE-201.
(Spoiler: Yes, but...) We often get asked if Roland Space and Chorus Echoes are reliable: a perfectly reasonable question, given that they're 30 to 40 (or more) years old.
