Description

Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console for sale (mainland EU)

32 channels with penthouse & meter bridge (16 channels have ShadowMix automation). Comes with a custom-made producer desk (easily removable) and some spares (including an additional centre section).

5032 preamp & EQ (4)
5015 preamp & Compressor (4)
5033 five-band EQ (8)
5043 dual channel compressor

  • Cable length to the remote patchbay is around 5m.
  • Most cabling is Van Damme Studio Grade.

We asked the owner for his thoughts about the console:

One of the strong suits of this console is that it’s totally modular so you can put the modules wherever you want. The console has 16 slots on the main desk (plus 9 slots on the master section). The expander has another 16 slots so in total you can fit 41 modules.
We have 4 different modules: the preamp with EQ, the preamp with compressor, the 5-band EQ and the dual compressor.
They all sound absolutely stellar, it’s a Neve design thru and thru. People are more familiar with the brand’s 500 series offerings, so it’s a sound people know. I would describe the sound as hi-fi, with an insane amount of depth and space.
Some modules have the “Silk” option, that when engaged adds a lot of character to the sound (more reminiscent of classic Neve consoles). 
The console runs on 90V rails so the headroom and noise floor are unbelievable. 
I think the true beauty of the console is not in the preamp or EQ modules per se. Just running sounds through the desk imparts this huge depth to the sound which is hard to describe. 
Rupert Neve always said this console is the best he ever designed, and having a vintage 8068 in our other studio I understand what he means by that.
