Rare Rotel RZ-8 Play Mixer for sale in excellent working order and condition. Has been serviced by our techs. We’d never seen one of these before, and still can’t quite believe they exist. Made by Rotel – a Japanese company that were actually originally called Roland (no relation!) – and hailing from a bygone era when the product rather than profit was king, this sleek brushed aluminium hunk of gorgeousness could just be everything to everybody.
Drum machine and effects mixer in one hifi-type unit. The beat box sounds unique and is interesting, and it’s possible to route it back in via a guitar input and the internal echo to add another controllable dimension to the sound. The guitar/mic inputs overdrive well with guitar as well.
This is the HiFi separate you never dreamed existed – and never knew you wanted – until now. Yes, vinyl enthusiasts that’s a twin cross-fader DJ mixer (one each for the twin line and phono inputs); there’s a hefty 70s Hifi-style mic/instrument mixer with variable impedance, a basic built-in BBD echo and twin VU meters; and hell why not add in a warm and funky analogue beatbox with variable patterns to really get your party started?
Have your cake, eat it. Have another cake, put a cherry on top, and eat that. Take all the cakes you can carry… Rotel knew about seventies excess.

Supplied serviced and ready to rock your local block or house party. The BBD echo is a bit of an afterthought and shouldn’t be the reason you buy this unit – it’s only usable on the guitar/mic inputs and is nothing to get excited about. Some crackle may be possible from pots/switches/sliders when it’s not been used for a while, but should clear with use – it is currently working flawlessly. Connections are via RCA sockets on the back, inputs on the front are 1/4 inch.
Good. Some signs of age. See photos for more information.
100v Japanese model - it will run on North American mains 115/120v without a transformer (we run all our tests using 120v power); however, a step-down transformer is recommended for extended use. A step-down transformer is required in the UK/EU. We do not recommend using cheap generic Chinese mains transformers and can supply a high quality UK-made unit if required.
For sales in UK/EU the price will include 20% VAT. If you have an EU VAT number (outside the UK) you can enter it at check out to have VAT removed.
Demos of other examples of this machine:
Beat box routed back through the guitar input and BBD.
Layers of multiple rhythms routed through various effects.
