This is a Kawai Stereophonic Rhythmer, an early-mid 70s stereo drum machine (some sounds pan left to right).
Serviced and in excellent working order.
We bought it because, like a lot of our more unusual gear, we’d never seen or heard one before. It needs a video demo doing so you can appreciate the flashing light blocks on the front but that won’t capture the “maracas” (in a pretty loose sense of how the they sound) zipping from left to right. The sounds are pretty basic as are the rhythms (although they can be layered on top of each other by pressing multiple buttons) but it is nevertheless an odd and strangely compelling bit of vintage gear…
The condition is very good – some wear to the front panel and to the wooden sides, but overall it is a very groovy looking unit.
Converted to 240v operation.
