An excellent example of an original 1960s Grampian. All the germanium distortion and reverb you could ever need.
Wanted! If you have one of these (working or not) for sale please contact us now.
An excellent example of an original 1960s Grampian given the full Soundgas rebuild treatment. Nobody knows these like we do. No two are alike: brimming with rich harmonic germanium distortion and vintage spring reverb.
Supplied fully overhauled by our techs, who know these units better than anyone (as we’ve now built our own version!). Currently awaiting the work to bring it up to its full, glorious potential. Shipping estimate is 4 to 6 weeks from purchase – it may be quicker but it depends on the queue of work our head tech has at the time.
Grampian Type 636 for sale. These are increasingly hard to track down, and often have tricky issues to iron out – we’ve found few techs are able to make these sound as they should. This is a chance to obtain one of these remarkable units with our seal of approval.
Far from a one-trick pony, Grampians are things of wonder for anyone who loves rich harmonic distortion, and they have a myriad of uses in the studio – see our main Grampian pages and previous Grampian blog post for more on these machines. From Lee Scratch Perry to Pete Townshend of the Who, these unprepossessing grey boxes are responsible for a great deal of historic sonic mayhem.
In addition to a full rebuild the jack sockets will be switched to conventional quarter inch (the originals are short “B” type sockets – very easy to damage by inserting a regular jack).
In excellent cosmetic condition with only minor signs of age and wear to the face. The case is clean with some marks around the edges and top. The missing back screws will be re-threaded and replaced during service. Please see photos or get in touch if you require more information on condition.
220/240v unit. A step-up transformer will be required for use on 110/120v supplies. Please ask if you need advice on what to use. We do not recommend using cheap, generic Chinese mains transformers.
For sales in UK/EU, this item is on the margin scheme for second hand goods. VAT-free sales are not possible for this item.
