PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

British-made Vox AC-10 valve (tube) amp in very good cosmetic condition and as perfect working order as you could wish for from a 60s valve amp. This stunning-sounding amp has just been serviced and is ready to play. Made by Jennings Musical Industries (JMI), these rare amps are highly-regarded and very sought-after and rightly-so. Everything important seems to be correct and original internally except for the valves and voltage selector – these plastic switches often break, and this one has been replaced with an internal selector (no holes drilled) with the original selector cover being secured in place to keep things correct cosmetically.

Dating from 1964-5, this is a go-to amp in the studio: all the balls and vibe of an AC-30 without the hearing damage: it sounds absolutely superb – the original speakers are in excellent order and perform extremely well. The tremolo is lovely, the footswitch is original (missing it’s base) but has been modified with a jack plug and trailing socket to allow a modern silent switch to be used if required when recording. Unfortunately the previous owner had hacked a couple of holes in the rear panel for extra sockets – these have been removed and the holes filled and made good. There is minor damage to the wood on the right-hand side that the rear cover is secured to (invisible when the cover is on). We fitted a new set of rubber feet as the originals were missing, and one screw is missing from the rear panel. There are two holes and indentations where a non-standard handle had been fitted – this has been removed and a correct period handle has been fitted (from another 60s AC-10). None of these minor flaws affect the sound/performance in any way but are mentioned for absolute clarity.

This amp looks superb and plays and sounds amazing – it will be hard to let it go.

The UK plug will be removed before shipping abroad unless otherwise requested.

We have described this amp as accurately as possible, and welcome any observations concerning it’s originality.
