An exceptional valve Echorec supplied after full restoration/rebuild with super slow varispeed motor - this is a studio only model for use as an aux send (wet only) effect.
An exceptional valve Echorec supplied after full restoration/rebuild with our super slow varispeed motor. Designed for use with a mixer only – this machine has a wet-only output.
This is a preorder listing. This Echorec is in the final stages of a total rebuild/upgrade. Shipping will be up to 4 weeks from ordering.
Binson Echorec P.E.603-T for sale by preorder – includes full restoration/rebuild and our super slow varispeed motor.
The valve 603 is essentially the same machine as the T7E, but in a heavy-duty case and with push-button control of all repeats and swell settings. This unit is designed for use as an aux send effect with a mixing desk: it has no dry signal path.
There is no obvious place for the varispeed control so we will use a remote breakout box which will plug into a socket on the rear panel.
We also have a Valve Echorec T7E and a clean Baby Binson for preorder.
The amount of time, parts and modifications we are putting into Binsons eclipses any found elsewhere. As well as the donor machine shown, we will be using parts from other machines plus bespoke parts of our own, to create a truly stunning example. We use our stock of period parts to create a good set of original heads (which once relapped have superior performance to heads from later machines or new replacements).
All our machines are completely stripped of old wiring/components and rebuilt from the ground up for optimum performance.
All this comes at a cost, but with a Soundgas Binson you truly get what you pay for – the very highest possible quality machine – as near to a new (but substantially improved/upgraded) sixties Echorec as you could wish for.
Will be supplied overhauled and working flawlessly with our super slow varispeed motor. All Soundgas Binson restorations are completed in house by our senior echo tech Max Dawson and come with 12 months’ warranty (UK/EU/USA/Canada only) plus lifetime tech support for our customers. Supplied complete with our Binson manual and an original case in excellent order; Tony is on hand to answer your Binson questions prior to ordering, or in the future.
Modifications:
The Super-Slow Varispeed Motor offers the full functionality of a standard Binson but with the advantage of being able to tempo match the repeats. Binsons have fixed-speed motors which will run fast in the USA (unless they are specific export models) due to the different mains frequency, which is something Pink Floyd discovered on the eve of their first US tour. The tempo of their songs was determined by the Echorecs’ repeat patterns so their tech spent a sleepless night moving all the heads to compensate. In addition to allowing tempo-matching to the song, and longer echoes (allowing a Baby Binson to achieve similar echo lengths to an Echorec 2), the super-slow motor offers the option of much longer, darker, dirtier repeats. This can get properly gnarly when pushed into distortion at slow speed. Please note that at the very slowest speeds there is very little fidelity or feedback: this should be viewed as a bonus for special effects use rather than more traditional guitar echoes.
Excellent throughout. Note that photos were taken pre-restoration – the heads, drum and other parts may be changed during the rebuilding process. Please get in touch if you require more information on condition.
Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.
For sales in UK the price will include 20% VAT. Buyers elsewhere may incur VAT or other local taxes on import.
The first two demos (808 and 303) are of this machine when originally sold. Fresh demos to follow.
The others feature previous machines we have sold, and include a great guitar video from when Dan from That Pedal Show visited the studio to try out some Echorecs.
Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, with a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning drum which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the result of many hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, calibrating, listening, tweaking. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may appear to be short in purely functional terms (how many times do we hear of a Binson that is “nearly there, just needs a little extra calibration to be perfect…”); but they are a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to make them function and sounds as good as is possible.
