Valve/Tube Binson Echorec Baby with our Super-Slow Varispeed Motor for sale. Working flawlessly and sounding superb following a service/rebuild. Wet-only output mod possible.
First demo below of the actual unit for sale. Other demos of previous machines (further down the listing).
Full restoration with varispeed (wet-only output mod possible) performed by our echo tech, Dr Huw. This machine features a Super-Slow Varispeed Motor offering the full functionality of a standard Binson but with the advantage of being able to tempo match the repeats. The super-slow varispeed motor option offers the full functionality of regular speed uses, but with additional super-slow speeds for longer, darker, dirtier repeats. This can get properly gnarly when pushed into distortion at slow speed – it should be noted that at the slowest speeds very little fidelity or feedback happens – this is more for special effects rather than regular echo use.
Wet-only output possible for use with a mixing console (or effects loop) if required.
Our Binsons generally sell very quickly, usually before we can get them listed. If you are interested in getting one of these machines serviced and set up to our exacting standards then please get in touch to reserve one **
In very good cosmetic condition with the usual dings and signs of age. The knobs lid and clear cover are replacements but present very well: this is a sonically-superb machine. See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.
For sales in UK/EU, this item is on the margin scheme for second hand goods. VAT-free sales are not possible for this item.
Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.
The first demo below is of the actual unit for sale. Other demos are of previous machines we’ve sold.

This is DEFINITELY what Dr. Bini had in mind when he was designing the first Echorec 😜 We're going to be putting this particular modified machine up for sale this week. It's from our studio collection, but it's not been getting enough use - simply because we seem to have so many preordered Echorecs around at various stages of the testing process. It's got a super slow varispeed motor mod and a wonderful, crisp, percussive quality when the valves are hit with the right level. Also particularly tasty with beats, as you will no doubt hear later in the week once it's had another tweak to up the feedback following this test.

Big Baby. Proof that you really can’t beat old analogue gear for sheer levels of filth that never get harsh. Here I’m brutally overdriving the input of this Baby Binson while the MPC-1 undergoes final pre-shipping testing (it’s fine and shipping out to its new home in NYC). The Baby is just back from a service with our in house echo specialist, Dr Huw and is sounding very good indeed...
Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, with a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning drum which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the result of many hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, calibrating, listening, tweaking. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may appear to be short in purely functional terms (how many times do we hear of a Binson that is “nearly there, just needs a little extra calibration to be perfect…”); but they are a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to make them function and sounds as good as is possible.
To find out more about these machines – the history, how they work, and what we do to make them sing – head to our Binson pages now:
