Valve/Tube Binson Echorec Baby with our Super-Slow Varispeed Motor for sale. Working flawlessly and sounding superb following a service/rebuild. Wet-only output mod possible.
First demo below of the actual unit for sale. Other demos of previous machines (further down the listing).
Full restoration with varispeed (wet-only output mod possible) performed by our echo tech, Dr Huw. This machine features a Super-Slow Varispeed Motor offering the full functionality of a standard Binson but with the advantage of being able to tempo match the repeats. The super-slow varispeed motor option offers the full functionality of regular speed uses, but with additional super-slow speeds for longer, darker, dirtier repeats. This can get properly gnarly when pushed into distortion at slow speed – it should be noted that at the slowest speeds very little fidelity or feedback happens – this is more for special effects rather than regular echo use.
Wet-only output possible for use with a mixing console (or effects loop) if required.
Our Binsons generally sell very quickly, usually before we can get them listed. If you are interested in getting one of these machines serviced and set up to our exacting standards then please get in touch to reserve one **
In very good cosmetic condition with the usual dings and signs of age. The knobs lid and clear cover are replacements but present very well: this is a sonically-superb machine. See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.
Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.
For sales in UK/EU, this item is on the margin scheme for second hand goods. VAT-free sales are not possible for this item.

Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, with a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning drum which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the result of many hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, calibrating, listening, tweaking. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may appear to be short in purely functional terms (how many times do we hear of a Binson that is “nearly there, just needs a little extra calibration to be perfect…”); but they are a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to make them function and sounds as good as is possible.
To find out more about these machines – the history, how they work, and what we do to make them sing – head to our Binson pages now:
If a standard Echorec was considered adequate for Barrett, Gilmour, and Page, why would you modify a vintage Echorec with a variable speed motor?
