Valve/Tube Binson Echorec Baby for sale, complete with its very fetching original cream and brown case in unusually good condition.
This is a preorder listing (all photos are of the unit for sale). This Echorec is currently awaiting overhaul and modification. Shipping will be in 2 to 3 months of purchase.
It will be supplied working flawlessly and sounding superb – all work is done in house overseen by our head tech and Binson expert Dr. Huw. All our Binsons have 3 months’ warranty plus ongoing service support. We supply a full manual and case instructions, plus we are always available to answer any questions you may have about your machine.
Modifications:
Super low varispeed motor and wet-only modifications can be added during service. The additional cost for adding these will be £700 making the total cost £3950 (we can send an order for the mods separately after purchase if needed).
The Super-Slow Varispeed Motor offers the full functionality of a standard Binson but with the advantage of being able to tempo match the repeats. In addition the super-slow speeds achievable can make for for longer, darker, dirtier repeats. This can get properly gnarly when pushed into distortion at slow speed – it should be noted that at the slowest speeds very little fidelity or feedback happens – this is more for special effects rather than regular echo use. We add an extra knob on the side of the machine near the sockets.
Wet-only output requires an extra socket (arranged neatly on the side) and is for use with a mixing console or effects loop.
Our Binsons generally sell very quickly, usually before we can get them listed. If you are interested in getting one of these machines serviced and set up to our exacting standards then please get in touch to reserve one.
In excellent cosmetic condition with only minor wear. The face and knobs are very clean with some staining to the white pointers. The case is very good having some dings and oxidation patches around the edges. Internally, this unit is excellent, even having an original Binson oil bottle (we’ll still supply a replacement of our own). See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.
Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.
For sales in UK/EU, this item is on the margin scheme for second hand goods. VAT-free sales are not possible for this item.
A few demos of other Binson Baby units we’ve had through.
Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, with a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning drum which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the result of many hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, calibrating, listening, tweaking. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may appear to be short in purely functional terms (how many times do we hear of a Binson that is “nearly there, just needs a little extra calibration to be perfect…”); but they are a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to make them function and sounds as good as is possible.
To find out more about these machines – the history, how they work, and what we do to make them sing – head to our Binson pages now:
